“Your time today will change lives.” Powerful words from staff at Re-Cycle in Colchester, to a team of Infinis staff who spent a day helping the charity.

Re-Cycle collect and repair unwanted bikes and ship them to trusted partner charity organisations in Africa.  The bikes help improve everyday life for people of all ages across Africa from transport, education, employment and play.

“What a brilliant idea and charity.  Cycling was a passion of mine as a youngster.  Volunteering today was a no-brainer,” said Darren Smith, Regional Manager across the South.

The team helped the charity at its busiest time of the year.  They unloaded hundreds of delivered bikes, compact bikes for shipping, recycled parts and helped load shipping containers destined for Senegal, Ghana, Namibia, Kenya and Zambia.

“This is my first month at Infinis.  It’s been really helpful meeting the rest of the team on a day like this” was how Matthew Gough, Landfill Gas Technician described the day.

HR Director, Paul Gregson, taking part in the team-volunteering scheme he helped launch, joined the team of gas field staff. “It’s great to be part of it and we want to encourage more staff to get involved in the future.”

The team handled hundreds of bikes throughout the day.  “The work you’ve done today as a team would have taken us well over a week to do” said Martin Lawson, Warehouse Manager for Re-Cycle. “It’s been a real pleasure to spend time with you all and we can’t thank you enough”
