Charity – Seniors Centre, Glasgow

A team of staff volunteers took time out to visit a charity in Glasgow that helps older people keep connected through friendship and activities.

The Senior Centre is described as a youth club for the over 60’s. With a pool table, juke box and computer suite, it’s a vibrant part of the community that welcomes over 400 people every week.

The team volunteered to give charity staff a break by serving up a three course festive lunch as well as washing all the dishes!

“It was an lovely day with passionate charity staff determined to help older people live life to the full’ said Roy McGlynn from SPIE  “It was good fun for us all to come together as a team and get involved to help out.”

Libby Barnes from SPIE enjoyed taking part.  “It was such a fabulous day to meet a charity doing it’s very best to keep people active.  I enjoyed talking to many of the people that came along but I don’t think I’ll take up waitressing as a future career!”

Melanie from the charity was delighted with the teams help. “They were all fantastic.  It was such a busy day but they threw themselves into the challenge.  Many of the people we help will be alone at Christmas and the team made it a special day to remember.”
