Company – Goodman Group Ltd

Can you build a barbecue in a day?  Not a typical question asked of commercial and industrial property group Goodman but one that they responded to with a positive YES.

Taking a day away from the business, twenty staff, headed by the Managing Director, went to a community allotment in Solihull to help make a difference.

The allotment is one of many managed by the charity Community Environmental Trust.  It’s intended to offer a safe green space for people to grow, learn, relax and socialise in inner city Birmingham where many residents do not own a garden.

The team tackled overgrown vegetation, painted raised beds, built poly-tunnels and of course, designed and built an outdoor barbecue for local residents to use.

“What a thoroughly satisfying day seeing us all pull together in this way,” said MD, Charles Crossland. We hope people enjoy the new space, especially cooking on the barbecue.

Alicia Cristobal from the charity was blown away by the amount of work the team got through in a day.  “It’s like the TV show, DIY SOS.  You’ve all been amazing. Thank you so much.”

HR Director Kate Lefever was thrilled with the day. “We couldn’t have wished for a better experience. Days like this are brilliant for teamwork, morale and getting our brand into the community. We’re so pleased to have helped the charity.”
